Effect of Cerebral Infarction on the Risk of Synchronous Brain Metastasis: Analysis of 307 Consecutive Patients of Newly Diagnosed Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
Review Data
Purpose and Significance of Study: This study attempted to determine the effect of cerebral infarction on the risk of brain metastasis (BM) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The results could offer a promising approach for the prevention, prognostic evaluation, and therapy of BM in NSCLC patients.
Fit with Scope of Journal: The manuscript is of very high interest for the journal Clinical Oncology and Research.
The manuscript contains some minor errors (already corrected in the galley proof), which are listed below –
The common errors are –
· Omission of articles, e.g., “the” before “control” in the 2nd sentence of the Methods in the Abstract, “a” before “promising” in the 2nd sentence of the Conclusions in the Abstract, and so on.
· Omission of “,”, e.g., after “CI” in the 1st sentence of Results in the Abstract, after “studies” in the 1st sentence of the 3rd paragraph of Introduction, and so on.
· “What’s more” sounds informal; so, it must be replaced with “Moreover”.
· Shorthand like “it’s” must be avoided, to maintain the formal tone.

· Using the wrong number, e.g., “cancer cell” must be replaced with “cancer cells” in the 5th sentence of the 2nd paragraph of the Introduction, “were” must be replaced with “was” in the 3rd sentence of Data collection in the Patients and Methods, and so on.

In the 3rd paragraph –
· In the 1st sentence, “induce” must be replaced with “induced”.
· In the 2nd sentence, “worse” must be replaced with “worsen”.
In the Patients and Methods –
Under The diagnosis of CI –
· In the heading, “the” must be removed.
· In the 2nd sentence, “Specially” must be replaced with “especially”.
Under Statistical analysis –
· In the 1st sentence, “by” must be replaced with “using”, “,” before “other” must be replaced with “;”, and “using” must be inserted before “either”.
· In the 5th sentence, “statistical” must be replaced with “statistically”.
