Management of Para-Aortic Lymph Node Metastasis in Rectal Squamous Carcinoma

Purpose and Significance of Study: This is a report a very rare case of retroperitoneal nodal metastasis for rectal squamous cell carcinoma and discussion of the surgical approach.

Fit with Scope of Journal: The manuscript is of very high interest for the journal Surgery Case Reports.

The discussion provides adequate justification for the diagnosis and the choice of surgical approach in this rare case. The case underlines the need for further studies, including prospective trials and large observational studies to better define the role of surgery in the management of patients like this.

 

o   The manuscript contains a few minor errors (already corrected in the galley proof), listed below –

 

·       Usage of incorrect prepositions, e.g., “on” after “mention” in the 1st sentence of Conclusion in the Abstract must be replaced with “of”, “to” after “option” in the last sentence of the same section must be replaced with “for”.

·       In the 1st sentence of the 1st paragraph of Case report, “is” must be replaced with “was”, and “was” must be removed.

·       Usage of singular instead of plural numbers, e.g., “is” after “SCC” must be replaced with “are” in the last sentence of the 1st paragraph of the Discussion, “outcome” must be replaced with “outcomes” at the end of the 4th sentence of the last paragraph of the Discussion, and so on.
