A Rare Case of Rectal Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor Associated with Parapharyngeal Metastasis

This is a report of a rare case of rectal GIST with bone metastasis in an 82-year-old man. The case was challenging since it did not follow a classic evolution. The case illustrates that imatinib remains as the treatment of choice for bone metastasis, although it can result in some rare, severe cutaneous adverse effects.

This manuscript does a good job demonstrating and explaining the diagnosis and treatment of rarely occurring GIST and it fits well with the journal Surgical Case Reports (SCR).


There are certain minor errors (already corrected in galley proof). These are:

 

·       In abstract, under discussion 2nd paragraph 4th sentence, “relatively” must be replaced with “a relatively”

·       There is incorrect use of article in two places like, in discussion under abstract, 3rd paragraph 1st sentence “a oligometastatic” must be replaced with “an oligometastatic” and in last paragraph of discussion “a R1” must be replaced by “an R1”.

·       “Life threatening” occurs multiple times in the manuscript which must be hyphenated as “life-threatening”.

·       In case presentation 4th paragraph, 2nd sentence, “disparition” must be replaced with “disappearance”.

·       In discussion, 3rd paragraph, 1st sentence, “A large rectal GISTs” must be replaced with either “Large rectal GISTs” or “A large rectal GIST”.

In discussion, 5th paragraph, 3rd sentence “a complete” must be replaced with “complete”.
