Pain, Anxiety- and Depression-Like Behaviors in Alcohol-Preferring and -NonPreferring Rats

Review Data

Purpose and Significance of Study: This study investigated the pain, anxiety and depression related behaviours in alcohol-preferring and non-preferring rats. The results show that selective breeding for different oral alcohol preference has produced differences in nociception, anxiety, and depression.

Fit with Scope of Journal: The manuscript is of very high interest for the journal Neurology and Neurobiology.

The manuscript is very well-written. It only has a few minor errors, which are listed below –

·       Omission of “,” in a few places, e.g., after “simultaneously” in the last sentence of Animals and housing in the Materials and Methods, in place of “;” after “bottles” in the 2nd sentence of Intermittent access 20% ethanol two-bottle choice drinking procedure (IA2BC) in the Materials and Methods, and so on.

·       “Lightbox” must be written as a single word.

·       “Post hoc” must be written without hyphen to maintain consistency.
