Exploration of Endophytes from Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) as Biocontrol Agents

Exploration of Endophytes from Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) as Biocontrol Agents

Review Data

Purpose and Significance of Study: This manuscript comprises the process of isolation of fungal, bacterial and actinomycete endophytes from alfalfa, selecting from them strains with strong biocontrol capability, testing their effectiveness against the common alfalfa root rot pathogen Fusarium oxysporum F. sp. medicaginis, and identification of the effective strains. This research is important as a step in the direction of environmentally sustainable biocontrol agents.

Fit with Scope of Journal: The manuscript is a good fit for the journal Genetics and Genomics.

o   The manuscript is well-written and mostly error-free. A few major issues are listed below –

Under Evaluation on control effect of endophytes to cucumber wilt in vivo –

  In the 1st paragraph –

·       In the heading, “on” and “to” must be replaced with “of the” and “on” respectively.

·       In the 3rd sentence, “reserve” must be replaced with “resumed”.

Under Control effect of the selected strains against alfalfa root rot –

  In the 2nd paragraph –

·       In the 1st sentence, “cultured endophytic bacteria” must be replaced with “endophytic bacterial culture”.

  In the last paragraph –

·       In the last sentence, “to” must be removed.
