Perioperative Outcomes of Combined Gynecologic Oncology and Urogynecologic Surgeries
Review Data
Purpose and Significance of Study: This is a retrospective cohort study of the perioperative outcomes of combined gynecologic malignancy and urogynecologic surgeries on 29 patients. The results may potentially improve the quality of life of such patients.
Fit with Scope of Journal: The manuscript is of very high interest for Journal of Surgical Oncology.
o The manuscript contains a few errors (already corrected in the galley proof, except the highlighted ones, which require the author’s attention), which are listed below –
Some common issues are –
· Not mentioning the full-forms the first time the abbreviations are used or missing them completely, e.g., for “NSQIP”, “POPUI”, “POP”, “SUI”, “UTI”, “QOL”, etc.
· “Postoperative”, “perioperative” and “unpaired” must always be written without hyphens to be consistent.
· “robot-assisted” must be hyphenated,
· “However” must be used only after “;” or “.”, and must be followed by “,”.
In the Abstract –
Under Methods –
· In the 3rd sentence, “the” must be inserted at the beginning of the sentence.
Under Results –
· In the 2nd sentence, “showing” must be replaced with “showed”.
In the Background –
In the 1st paragraph –
· In the 1st sentence, “,” must be inserted after “treatment”.
In the 2nd paragraph –
· In the 2nd sentence, “that” must be inserted after “found”, and “symptoms” must be added at the end of the sentence.
· In the 3rd sentence, “are” must be inserted after “they”.
· In the 5th sentence, “of” after “increase” must be replaced with “in”.
In the Results –
In the 2nd paragraph –
· The 3rd and 4th sentences cannot be broken at “whereas”, as a sentence cannot begin with “whereas”. However, it makes the sentence extremely long and hard to read or understand. So, it must be rephrased and broken down.
· In the 5th sentence, the sentence must be broken at “Furthermore”, and the full-form of “PVR” is unclear.
In the Discussion –
In the 1st paragraph –
· In the 4th sentence, “in” after “findings” must be replaced with “of”, “supports that” must be removed, and “procedure” must be in plural.
· In the last sentence, “in-dwelling” is misspelled.
In the 2nd paragraph –
· In the 3rd sentence, “the” must be inserted before “pelvic”.
· In the last sentence, “nay” must be replaced with “any”.
In the 3rd paragraph –
· In the 1st sentence, “,” must be inserted after “available” and “simultaneously”.
· In the 2nd sentence, “opportunities” must be in singular form.
