The Efficacy of a Novel Temporary Crown System Marginal Seal and Structural Durability in Terms of Cyclic Loading - A Pilot Study
Review Data
Purpose and Significance of Study: The Hi-tempo temporary crown system is novel, in that the restorations come in the pre-shaped form and are made from poly-lactic acid-based resin thermoplastic material. The use of such a system could potentially save resources such as chair time and costs of treatment. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the marginal seal and structural durability of this system in terms of cyclic loading. Although the sample size is small, the lack of this information in the current literature makes this study significant.
Fit with Scope of Journal: The manuscript is of very high interest for the journal Dental Oral Biology and Craniofacial Research.
There are many minor errors in the manuscript, which are listed below –
In the Abstract section – Under Background and objectives – - In the 1st sentence, “a” must be inserted before “lack” and “acid” before “(PLA)”.
Under Methods –
- In the 2nd sentence, “consisting” must be replaced with “consisted”, there should be “:” after “consisting of”, “,” after “control group” must be replaced with “–”, “;” after “bis-acrylic” must be replaced with “,”, “,” after “Hi-tempo crown” must be replaced with “–” and “,” after “window type crown” must be replaced with “–”.
Under Results –
- In the 1st sentence, “versus” is spelled wrong; “,” after “window” must be removed and “the” must be added before “Hi-tempo groups”.
- In the 2nd sentence, “,” must be inserted after “crowns”.
In the Introduction section –
In the 1st paragraph – - In the 3rd sentence, “,” must be inserted before and after “however”.
- In the 4th sentence, “the same as” must be replaced by “like”.
In the 2nd paragraph –
- In the last sentence, “they” must be removed, “should” must be inserted before “have low…”, “a” must be inserted before “low” and “should” be inserted before “have adequate…”.
In the 3rd paragraph –
- In the 2nd sentence, “and” must be replaced by “or” and “indirect-direct” must be replaced by “indirect and direct”.
- In the 3rd sentence, “the” must be inserted before “indirect” (same for the 4th sentence) and “.” Must be replaced with “,”.
In the 4th paragraph –

- In the 3rd sentence, “acid” must be added before “(PLA)”.
- In the 7th sentence, “,” must be inserted after “sustainable”.
In the Materials and Method section –
Under Specimen preparation –
In the 3rd paragraph –
- In the 3rd sentence, “and” before “fitted” must be replaced with “,”.
In the 4th paragraph –
- In the 1st sentence, “c” in 75℃ must be capitalized.
Under Cycle Loading –
- In the 1st sentence, “HZ” must be written as “Hz”.
- In the 2nd sentence, “stimulate” must be replaced with “simulate”.
Under Nanoindentation test –
- In the 1st sentence, “embedded” is spelled wrong.
In the Results section –
Under Marginal gap change –
- The word “biggest” at multiple places in “biggest discrepancy” must be replaced with “greatest”.
Under Structural durability –
In the 1st paragraph –
- “Survival” is misspelled.
