Successful Treatment of Dual Juxtahepatic Inferior Vena Cava Injuries Using Formal Atriocaval Shunt: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

Purpose and Significance of Study: This is a report of the case of a 28-year old man with retrohepatic inferior vena cava injuries, which is a rare but often lethal situation. The challenging case was successfully treated using atriocaval shunt, which is rare. The report also reviews the existing literature relevant to the case.

Fit with Scope of Journal: The manuscript is of very high interest for the journal Surgical Case Reports.

The manuscript is well-written. Some very minor changes (already corrected in the galley proof) are required in the text, which are listed below

The common errors are –

·       Omission of articles, e.g., “an” before “increased” in the 2nd sentence of the Abstract, “the” before “temporary” in the 4th sentence of the Abstract, and so on.

·       “et al” must always be followed by “.”.

·       “x-ray” must be replaced with “X-ray”.

The other errors are –

In the Abstract –

·       In the 1st sentence, “ability to” must be removed.

·       In the 3rd sentence, “continues” must be replaced with “continue”.

In the Introduction –

  In the 1st paragraph –

·       In the 3rd sentence, “of” must be inserted after “rate”.

·       In the 8th sentence, “the use of” must be replaced with “using the”.

·       In the 9th sentence, “addressing multiple injuries simultaneously” must be replaced with “simultaneous addressing of multiple injuries”.

In the Case Report –

  In the 1st paragraph –

·       In the 1st sentence, “28-year old” must be replaced with “28-year-old”.

·       In the 5th sentence, “and through” must be removed once, as it is repeated.

·       In the 6th sentence, “a” before “pneumothorax” must be removed.

  In the last paragraph –

·       In the 4th sentence, “performance of” must be removed.

In the Discussion –

  In the 2nd paragraph –

·       In the 1st sentence, “correctly” must instead be inserted after “with”.

  In the 4th paragraph –

·       In the 2nd sentence, “internally” must instead be placed after “IVC”.

  In the last paragraph –

·       In the last sentence, “are” must be replaced with “is”.

In the Conclusion –

·       In the last sentence, “are” must be replaced with “is”.
