Salvage Endoscopic Full-Thickness Resection of Colorectal Carcinoma after Radiotherapy in a Patient Not Eligible for Surgery
Salvage Endoscopic Full-Thickness Resection of Colorectal Carcinoma after Radiotherapy in a Patient Not Eligible for Surgery
Review Data
Purpose and Significance of Study: The manuscript depicts the
case of an 81-year old patient with T2 colorectal adenocarcinoma, who was first treated
with neoadjuvant radiation and later, salvage endoscopic full thickness
resection (eFTR) to remove the residual carcinoma, despite
initially being ineligible for surgery because of comorbidities,
ultimately achieving full remission. This case underlines the importance of
considering salvage eFTR as a treatment option in selected cases of
rectosigmoid carcinoma.
Fit with Scope of Journal: The manuscript is of very high interest for the journal Surgical
Case Reports.
