Sensitivity of Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) Device for Lung Nodule Detection on Chest Radiography: A Real-Life Application

Review Data

Purpose and Significance of Study: This study attempted to assess the sensitivity and specificity of a computer-aided detection system in reviewing chest radiographs in a real-time setting. There are a few limitations of the study, including the small sample size (63).

Fit with Scope of Journal: The manuscript is of very high interest for the journal Radiology and Medical Diagnostic Imaging.

The manuscript has a few very minor errors (already corrected in the galley proof), which are listed below –

The common ones are –

·       Omission of “,”, e.g., after “patients” and “months” in the 1st sentence of Methods in the Abstract, after “16.1%” in the 1st sentence of Results in the Abstract, and so on.

·       Omission of articles, e.g., “a” before “DICOM” in the 11th sentence of the 1st paragraph of the Materials and Methods, “the” before “apex” and “lung base” in the last sentence of the next paragraph, and so on.

·       Usage of “,” instead of “;”, e.g., before “this information” in the 9th sentence of the 3rd paragraph of the Introduction, before “however” in multiple places, and so on.

·       Words like “real-life”, “real-time”, “computer-aided”, “false-positive”, “true-positive”, “true-negative”, “60-year-old”, etc. must be hyphenated in all places to maintain consistency.

The others are –

In the Materials and Methods –

  In the 5th paragraph –

·       In the 5th sentence, “is” must be inserted before “defined”.

In the Results –

  Under Participants –

·       In the last sentence, “statistical” must be replaced with “statistically”.

  Under Radiologists without CAD –

·       In the 2nd sentence, “for” must be replaced with “to a”.

Under Radiologists with the CAD –

·       In the last sentence, “different”, “see”, and “below” must be removed.

In the Discussion –

  In the 2nd paragraph –

·       In the 1st sentence, “on” must be replaced with “in”.

·       In the 3rd and 4th sentences, “radiograph” must be replaced with “radiographs”.

  In the last paragraph –

·       In the 1st sentence, “limitation” must be replaced with “limitations”, and “including” must be replaced with “include”.

·       In the last sentence, “,” after “although” must be removed, and “;” after “slices” must be replaced with “,”.

Note: Legend of figure 1 is not provided. It is necessary to provide legend.
