A Rare Case of Malignant Lung Cancer in a 20-Year-Old Patient: Possible Diagnostic Pitfalls

Purpose and Significance of Study: This is a report of a case of malignant mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the lung in which cancer was not suspected for months after the onset of symptoms. The report explains the diagnostic pitfalls in cases like this.

Fit with Scope of Journal: The manuscript is of very high interest for the Journal of Surgical Oncology.

The Discussion delineates the rarity of this cancer, its aggressiveness, common treatment approaches, and especially elaborates on the diagnostic pitfalls in the present case and possible measures to avoid them.

 

o   The manuscript is mostly well-written. A few minor errors (already corrected in the galley proof) are listed below –

 

·       In the 5th sentence of the Case Report and the last sentence of the last paragraph of the Discussion, “soaked” must be replaced with “sought”.

·       In the 6th sentence of the Case Report, “during” must be replaced with “before”.

·       Usage of incorrect forms of verbs, e.g., in the 3rd sentence of the 4th paragraph of the Discussion, “lead” must be replaced with “led”, in the next sentence, “be” must be replaced with “been”, and in the 2nd sentence of the last paragraph of the Discussion, “raise” must be replaced with “rise”.
