Comments:

This review focuses on overviewing marine-derived compounds with the ability to regulate the hallmarks of immunogenic cell death (ICD) and the potential to be used alone or in combination to enhance the efficacy of immunotherapies. Based on the data obtained from relevant literature, the study is apt in Concluding that marine natural products of vast biochemical diversity will constitute a most promising innovative avenue for the discovery of novel anti-cancer drugs and demonstrate potential strategies in tumor immunotherapy in the future. This review article provides relevant information about a new research perspective that can be further analysed focusing on identifying compounds that trigger atypical apoptotic cell death modality with the appearance of ICD hallmarks.

Further comments on the paper

Comments: Cancer has become a leading cause of death worldwide. Identification of bioactive natural immunogenic cell death (ICD) inducers with low side effects and high tolerability represents a priority in biomedical research in the field of cancer. This review is of significance as it discusses the various strategies to regulate the hallmarks of ICD and enhance immunogenic potentials. The review further focusses on evaluating the potential of natural compounds of marine origin to amplify the effects of ICD and therefore serve as novel therapeutic anti-cancer agents alone or in combination with existent chemo- or immune-therapies.

Q: Would you recommend this manuscript for further publication?

A: Yes - Suitable to be published

If you have any questions and clarifications you can write to the journal.

Thanks,
