Kidney Cancer Research: Sex-Inclusive but Sex-Unspecific

Purpose and Significance of Study: This study examined the consideration of sex as a biological variable in preclinical and clinical studies in kidney cancer.


Fit with Scope of Journal: The manuscript is of very high interest for the journal Clinical Oncology and Research.

The manuscript contains some very minor errors (already corrected in the galley proof), which are listed below –

 

The common errors are –

·       Omission of articles, e.g., “a” before “biological” in the last sentence of the Background in the Abstract, “the” before “pooling” in the last sentence of the last paragraph of the Introduction, and so on.

·       Omission of “,”, e.g., after “population” in the 1st sentence of Background in the Abstract, after “studies” in the 4th sentence of Results in the Abstract, and so on.

·       “Sex-inclusive”, “sex-specific”, “sex-unspecific”, ‘male-dominated”, “cancer-specific”, and “p-value” must be hyphenated in all the places.

In the Introduction –

  In the 1st paragraph –

·       In the 2nd sentence, “being” must be inserted before “increasingly”.

·       In the last sentence, “prevented” must be replaced with “provided”.

  In the 2nd paragraph –

·       In the 2nd sentence, “are” after “guidelines” must be replaced with “is”.

  In the 3rd paragraph –

·       In the 2nd sentence, “biomedical research” must be replaced with “biomedicine”.

In the Materials and Methods –

  Under Variables extracted –

·       In the 1st point, “.” After “patients” must be replaced with “;”.

·       In the 4th point, “institution” must be replaced with “institutional”.

  Under Data analysis –

·       In the 6th sentence, “America” must be replaced with “American”.

In the Results –

  Under A female and male data gap exists in kidney cancer research –

·       In the 2nd sentence, “from” before “North America” must be removed.

  Under The use of sex as controlled variable in statistical analysis is limited –

·       In the 2nd sentence, “a” before “univariate” must be removed.

·       In the 3rd sentence, “outcome” must be replaced with “outcomes”.

In the Discussion –

  In the 2nd paragraph –

·       In the 4th sentence, “not” must be removed.

·       In the last sentence, “as” must be inserted before “key”, and “minimize” must be replaced with “minimizes”.

  In the 3rd paragraph –

·       In the 3rd sentence, “RCC” must be replaced with “renal cell carcinoma” as this is the first time the abbreviation is used.

In the Conclusion –

·       In the 1st sentence, “understudied” must be written as a single word.
