Late Side Effects after Radiation Therapy in Patients with Prostate Cancer: 2D vs 3D vs IMRT

Purpose and Significance of Study: This is a comparative study of the long-term side-effects of the different kinds of radiotherapy – 2D, 3D-CRT and IMRT, and even radical prostatectomy and hormonal therapy. Although the sample size (68) is quite small, this study provides useful information, lacking in the current literature. 

 

Fit with Scope of Journal: The manuscript is of very high interest for the journal Clinical Oncology and Research. 

 

o   The minor errors in the manuscript are listed below – 

 

In the Abstract section – 

   

  Under 1st paragraph – 

·       In the 2nd sentence, “from radiotherapy” must be inserted after “toxicities”. 

·       In the 2nd and 3rd sentences, “3D-RCT” must be replaced by “3D-CRT”. 

 

In the Introduction section – 

 

  In the 3rd paragraph – 

·       In the last sentence, “thereby” must be removed. 

  In the 4th paragraph – 

·       In the 1st sentence, “3D-RCT” must be replaced by “3D-CRT”. 

·       In the 2nd sentence, “advantages such as” may be replaced by “the advantages of”. 

·       In the 4th sentence, “is” must be removed after “technique” and “irradiation”, and “the” must be inserted before “adjacent”. 

  In the 5th paragraph – 

·       “3D-RCT” must be replaced with “3D-CRT”. 

 

In the Methods section – 

 

  Under Patient Selection and Eligibility – 

 

  In the 2nd paragraph – 

·       In the 1st sentence, “treatment” must be replaced by “treated” and “3D-RCT” must be replaced by “3D-CRT”. 

·       In the 2nd sentence, “were” must be replaced with “included”. 

·       In the last box of the figure and the legend, “3D-RCT” must be replaced by “3D-CRT”. 

 

  Under Assessment of the side effects – 

 

  In the 1st paragraph – 

·       In the 1st sentence, “results” must be removed. 

·       In the 2nd sentence, “have” before “recorded” must be replaced by “give”. 

  In the 2nd paragraph – 

·       In the 5th sentence, “that” must be inserted after “so”. 

 

  Under Statistical analysis – 

·       In the 1st sentence, “associations” must be singular, “the” must be inserted before “late” and “treatment” and “were” must be replaced by “was”. 

·       In the 2nd sentence, “,” must be inserted after “treatments” and “together”. 

·       In the last sentence, “the” must be inserted before “late”. 

 

In the Results section – 

 

  Under Bowel function – 

 

  In the 2nd paragraph – 

·       In the 1st sentence, “,” must be inserted after “haematochezia”. 

 

  Under Bladder function – 

 

  In the 1st paragraph – 

·       In the last sentence, “urine bleeding” may be replaced by “bleeding with urine”. 

  In the 3rd paragraph – 

·       In the 2nd sentence, “according to P<0.25” does not make sense, and “Table 4” must be replaced by “Table 3”. 

 

  Under Sexual function – 

·       In the 1st sentence, “Table 6” must be replaced by “Table 4”. 

·       In the last sentence, “(Table 6)” must be inserted after “(P<0.05)”. 

 

In the Discussion section – 

 

  In the 2nd paragraph – 

·       In the 1st sentence, “,” may be replaced by “–. 

·       In the last sentence, “the” must be inserted before “three-dimensional”.

In the Conclusion section – 

·       In the 2nd sentence, the word “prevalence” is possibly mistakenly used, as it does not make sense in this context.
